I came on this trip quite ignorant about Mount Shasta. I’ve since learned that Shasta is one of the most sacred mountains on earth. Some say it’s the root chakra of the earth, others say the crown, others say the heart. It’s a destination for extraterrestrials, UFO’s, creatures such as the Yeti, and within it is a 5th-dimensional city called Telos, inhabited by survivors of the drowned continent Lemuria. There’s a lot going on here!
Although I’m ignorant about many things, I believe Shasta employs her own cloaking devices. How else could such a powerhouse place not be well known to the general public? Macchu Picchu and Mt. Fuji may be, but not Mt. Shasta. Whatever chakra she is, Shasta is no showboat. I think she likes to keep things small-scale, to live among the clouds in her quiet air of mystery.
Mt. Shasta is a 14,000+ ft.-high mountain. Wouldn’t you think there would be some great downhill skiing? Think again. Despite the fact that Shasta is quite snowy in winter, the downhill ski park struggles to have enough snow for skiing. (It’s January 6, 2018, and it isn't open!) Someone told me there used to be a better downhill ski area on the opposite side of the mountain, but it was destroyed in an avaianche. She said they rebuilt it, and then another avalanche came and wiped it out again. It seems the disappointing current location is a concession to the mountain’s clear pronouncement on the original site. Either way, Shasta has spoken: she’s not interested in being a ski vacation destination.
Yes, Mt. Shasta seems to know her mind quite well, thank you. While some have watched their weekend ski plans roar away in an avalanche, others have fallen victim to the tractor beam of Shasta, which plucks them out of their established lives and deposits them at her feet. When asked why the move to Mt. Shasta, most transplants say little more than “the mountain” with a look of awe and happy surrender. Many say they came for a brief visit, went home and then simply had to come back and stay although they couldn’t explain why. Hmmm. . . . So far, I have been kidnapped by Shasta for a week. I wonder if she has anything else in store for me . . . ?
