I found myself there last fall - on a group meditative immersion on the mountain. I knew nothing about Mt. Shasta, but for some strange reason, I dug up a very old email about the trip and, at the last minute, joined the group.
Going to Mt. Shasta made no logical sense. The trip came after a summer of unexpected travel - from my home on the east coast of the U.S. to Europe and to the western U.S. In fact, I hadn't been far from Shasta just a few weeks before. Why turn around and go back? I had kept afloat all summer with vacation rentals of my house, but would anyone rent it in the fall? I decided I didn't care about any of that. I heard the call, and I went.
At the Sacramento airport, a green crystal with a little sparkle to it (green aventurine) sat right next to my suitcase on the conveyor belt, nowhere near any other bags. I picked it up and aah - I felt Shasta's greeting and invitation to adventure. Thank you!! Yes!!
